Due to a mix up with the pitches we found ourselves playing Jarrow Boys Vikings on the spare one which had not been cut and was full of divits. We started the first half attacking the goal to the left with Jake (the oppositions MOTM) and Shaun playing in defence with Jack E playing in an unfamiliar role as striker, Konnor centre midfield and James and Jack HS as wingers. With chances coming at both ends it was the Raiders who struck first.

From a JBV attack the resulting goal kick the ball found Jack E in the centre of the field, his pass found James on the right wing, James then passed to Konnor (PMOM), who had carried on his run. And played a lovely ball inside to James who took the ball forward to place a shot past the JBV keeper from just inside the box. We continued to press forward trying to score a second goal, but unfortunately it was the opposition who scored to pull level, and that was how the first half end finished.

The second half found Michael coming on in place of the injured Jack HS who had hurt his leg, but had a good game on the left wing. Hope he is OK. Further changes were made with Bobby replacing James and Andrew for Shaun. The game took a dramatic turn when a JBV player hit an up and under shot up field, giving Adam little chance to stop it as it looped over his head into the net, lucky goal.

The game ebbed and flowed with both teams trying to score another goal, Michael came closest just failing to score with a volley which cleared the crossbar. Bobby also had a chance to score but the ball rebounded off a JBV player and out for a corner. The all important next goal fell to JBV who then went on to score another goal (lucky again) in off one of our players to make it 4-1. We continued to press and our endeavours paid off with Jack E pulling a goal back to reduce the deficit. Andrew played well in defence and prevented a few possible goals, and even managed to send the ball into the far corner of the next pitch.

The game was put out of our reach with five minutes to go when the opposing team scored again. Even though the result went against us, (not a true reflection of the match) the lads heads did not go down, and they played a cracking game.
