The Raiders were looking forward to playing their first match of the season after so many delays due to the weather. The team started the game with confidence and Andrew set the tone with a strike from the half way line as we kicked off. South Tyneside Athletic did their best but Jack E and Jake stood firm working well together in defence, with Adam doing us proud in goal. The match was very tight until, leading up to the first half, we counter-attacked, the ball passing from Andrew, to Aaron, who passed it wide to Jack HS, who advanced and took a shot at goal, Aaron followed the shot up and scored our first goal of the season. Sean and Michael did an excellent job of getting the ball to our front players throughout the match, therefore giving us opportunities to score.

The second half began with the Raiders continuing in excellent form. Our second goal was created by Michael passing to Andrew, who turned the defender, and scored a cracking goal (Andrew's description!). Jake and Andrew were replaced by Konner and Bobby and the game continued at a fast pace. South Tyneside Athletic cambe back with a near-miss hitting the cross bar and at last beat Adam to score a consolation goal in the last few minutes.

Well done lads on a superb performance in your first game in the league. Adam received a well-deserved 'man of the match' for his excellent goal keeping skills from the Raiders parents and South Tyneside Athletic coach.
