South Shields Raiders Football Club was founded in 2004.
The Club began as a result of a group of children leaving Cleadon nursery to go into the education system. unfortuanately they would be attending schools throughout the borough and the strong bonds that had grown between them would be lost. It was suggested that a Saturday morning kick about be organised to help the children stay in touch with one another From an original membership of twelve the club has developed by word of mouth alone. Parents have formed a committee and volunteer Coaches have attended FA coaching courses to become qualified, a child welfare officer has been appointed who again is registered with the F.A. The 2008-09 proved to be a great challenge to the teams but SS under 10's played out a great season in division one. AC Raiders enjoyed a first season in the under 9's Division One and SS Raiders finished fifth in the under 9's Premier League picking up the most improved team award at the league presentation night. Season 2009-10 welcomed a new under 17's team to the Club who went on to win the Russell Foster under 17's First Division. SS Raiders under 11's Joined the premier league for their age group and played out a tough season the highlight being a 9-0 victory in their final match of the season. SS Raiders under 10's finished third in the Chase Holmes Premier League and picked up the most improved award for the second season running at the league presentation night, they also won their first tournament in the knockout South Shields fc tournament in May 2010. AC Raiders reached the under 10's division one Cup Final and were narrowly beaten 2-1. Season 2010-11 welcomes another new team to the club as the under 7's enter the Chase Holmes League.
